I know because my hips
ache in the morning
and speak to me.
I rise and my spirit unfurls
with the aroma of hot coffee
on the patio and I can feel
the delirious warmth
of the sun on my face,
even as my body shivers
in the wind.
My ambulation is my own
and I am free to wander
from the cloud,
exist off the grid,
where my mind flows
into innumerable
tributaries without restraint,
and I can die,
migrate to a land
where no machine
can follow.
