Dear Jack O’Lantern

October 31, 2019

Rapture is our discipline.
Ed Foster

Night’s mouth—you deliver
a crescent of infinite silence.

Out of a hollowed globe,
you project pollinated gold.

Your eyes spill light’s echo.
It’s great to have you back.

I want to believe you will
follow me, Jack,

like a bloodhound running
underground.

Using my mother’s knife
to free your face,

I make an O and in it put all
of what’s unable to be said.
