Erase the Sun

in World by

It looks like it’s a nice day.
I don’t know that I have time
for that. People are coming
into town with clubs and firearms
and Stormtrooper helmets.
Somehow we were always
expecting something like this,
but, of course, you’re never
prepared. We saw a man
at the corner flashing and waving
a knife in the air. We heard
a young woman scream.
Some folks came up and asked,
“What’s he doing? What are
the police doing?” The older women
standing beside us were wearing
sky blue T-shirts that said “Quaker”
and holding signs that said “Love.”
So much is considered lost until it’s found.
